Movie Industry

By Benjamin Keller

Day after day and year after year movies continue to develop much like the human race. Depending on the presence of time, movie themes fluctuate according to the past, present and future. For in this life there will always be more questions than answers. As a human-being we face millions of questions in life. These same questions dramatically effect the decisions and choices we make on a daily basis. Ultimately we all want to be that hero or star in the movie. We want to finally have all the answers for the past, present, and future.

Movie themes such as drama, action, romance, sci-fi, fiction, non-fiction and horror are all interest that the common person enjoys watching. In the past decade or two, movies have changed dramatically; ranging from movie themes to technological advances in computer animation. The point is we all enjoy movies because for that moment in time we can be that superhero. We can answer one of those million questions in our head like: “Who is Sherlock Holmes”. Or simply, so we can take a break from the real-world-drama that consumes our lives.

Here’s an interesting fact: The current unemployment rate for the United States, as of March 2010, is at 9.7%. Yet the movie box office continues to soar with new movies such as Avatar. This movie has generated an updated amount of $741,140,003 since its release date late in 2009. These facts are interesting because it seems the less money we have as a whole, the more we consume our lives in movies and entertainment. This tells me that people are choosing to watch movies even more to create an escape from world and its dramatic problems.

As the people, culture, and technology changes the movies do as well. This also includes the way people choose to watch movies. With new technology we can begin watching movies with the click of the button, instead of the old fashion projectors and film rollers. Last decade movie stores such as Blockbuster controlled the price we paid to watch movies. Now that times have changed and people are choosing different ways to watch, companies like Blockbuster are going under fast.

If there has ever been a movie, there has been a movie theater. Prices at theaters are out the roof. Theaters near by are charging up to $12 per person for 1 single movie! Sorry guys, it looks like you are going to be a cheap date tonight.

Many people, including myself, are taking advantage of the new technology in this present time period. Sure back in the day it was fine to rent or go to the movies for a few bucks, but for the price it is now, something had to give. People are now using the internet and its many resources for their long-lasting entertainment craving. Now instead of renting or watching at a theater, you can download or stream movies to your personal computer. Downloading movies online enables you to save its contents and play it again with the click of a button. Streaming movies online allow users to enjoy a movie within a few seconds without having to clutter your hard drive’s space.

There are many programs or databases that store millions of media files on the internet. Just like when you download a file onto your computer, it is there until it is deleted. The power to save data and to transfer it has to be the ultimate technology advance of the century. Now instead of only getting to watch your favorite movie once for $12, or having to return your movie, you can save it or watch it instantly.

There are numerous databases out there, some of which are complete scams designed only to take your money. Go figure right? The people trying to steal from other people learned how to do it in the movies. If you’re like me then you just want to watch a movie without paying these ridiculous prices.

At the website in the resource box, there are reviews of the best online movie databases I have found and used. For less than the price of a movie for 4, you can begin downloading or streaming your family’s entertainment for life. If you’re worried because you want to watch movies on your HDTV and not your computer, then don’t panic. I have written a short guide on connecting your PC to your HDTV. There is absolutely no limit to the future of the entertainment industry. Stop paying more for less and jump on board today because the future is now.
